Bas Nierop
Managing Director

Bas Nierop is the Managing Director of EFC. He has over 23 years international banking experience, lived in five different continents and he worked in the management teams of various banks. He has changed and implemented the strategies of various banks in Africa and contributed to their turn-around and commercial success. He spent most of his career working for Rabobank, including as the Chief Commercial Officer of NMB Plc in Tanzania during the turn-around of that bank. He now oversees the successful growth and expansion of EFC throughout Tanzania.

He speaks six languages and holds a Master of Science degree from Delft University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Brunel University.

Hawa Mgode
Operations Director

Hawa Frank Mgode is the EFC Tanzania Microfinance Bank Limited Operations Director. She is responsible for assuring the effectiveness of the internal operational controls, maintain and exceed established target and quality standards, provide departmental budget management oversight, lead timely product testing and roll out processes, defining effective policies and procedure that assure efficient operation and eliminate bottlenecks that affect inter-departmental productivity.

Before joining EFC Microfinance Bank Limited MS Mgode worked with FINCA Microfinance Bank from July 2012 as Manager Banking Operations overseeing the overall banking operations as well as with specific details that required for improving operating policies, process, system, checks and controls.

MS Mgode is a Tanzanian over 35 years of experience in banking industry with Advance Diploma in Banking from Institute of Finance Management (IFM). She started her career at the former NBC in 1980 up to 1997, after split she joined NMB up to 2009, where she moved through different levels at Branches up to Head Office Operation department as Manager Clearing and Central Data processing and member of Equinox System Implementation team, where she successfully managed to establish the Central Data Processing department (Branch back office processes), Automated Cheque and EFT Clearing process, Writing Branch operational procedures as well as Clearing and Central data processing procedures to support end user in Equinox System. From 2010 - 2012 she participated in a major Reconciliation Project for cleanup of Suspense Accounts in NMB Bank and member of Flex cube implementation team.

Robert Pascal
Commercial Director

Robert Pascal is the EFC Tanzania Microfinance Bank Limited Commercial Director. He is responsible for achieving the bank’s commercial targets and the growth of all retail banking activities of the bank. Prior to joining EFC Tanzania Microfinance Bank Limited; he worked as the Director of Credit and Business Management at Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) for one year and five months.

He also worked with NMB PLC for seven and half years (7.5) as Head MSME and Agribusiness from September 2007 to October 2011 and later in 2011 started a new department within the bank as the first Head of Agribusiness where he served until Mid-March 2015 when he then joined TADB.

Before joining NMB PLC he worked with CRDB PLC for eight years (8) from 1998 to 2006 at different capacities within the bank. Last position held with the bank was Senior Relationship Manager Corporate Banking responsible and in charge of the Lake zone corporate customer’s portfolio and among the first Customer Relationship Officers who started the CRDB Corporate Banking Department. Robert has a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from University of Dar es Salaam Business School and MBA in International Banking and Finance from Birmingham Business School in the United Kingdom.
